I ran, and I ran, and I ran. I would do anything to avoid feeling anger, sadness, and loneliness. When I had a negative emotion I would find someone to blame so I could scold them or secretly plot their demise in my twisted mind. Like someone MUST be responsible for this and it surely was not me.
Let's admit it, none of us really enjoy those amazing emotions. Why can't we just be happy all the time? Well, our emotions are little landmines of information that are actually really beneficial if we pay attention. The shift came for me when I began meditating with my clients 2 years ago, and in that time I have built my ability to be aware (present, in the moment, without judgement). Now when I have those emotions I sit with them. I love on them. I cry with them until they pass. That's freedom!
